Fitness and technology, building Stoa together

Stoa was started by coaches who run a gym and by leaders who have each spent more than twenty years running enterprise technology. The gym side knows what has to work at 5:45 on a Monday morning, when class is full, a card declines and a parent is waiting at child watch. The technology side knows how to build software that holds up when it does. They built one platform for everything a gym runs.

Why we’re called Stoa

Stoa (STOH-uh) noun. A covered walkway along an ancient Greek public square, open to everyone.

Day after day, people met in the stoa to trade and talk. One of them, the Painted Stoa in Athens, gave its name to Stoicism, because Zeno of Citium taught there around 300 BC. The Stoics are remembered for discipline, resilience and doing the work.

Your gym is both. It is the place a community shows up every day, and where people come to do hard things together.

Our mission is to bring fitness to everybody.

We build the platform that runs the gym, so owners have the time and room to serve more people, and we give every member a coach of their own.

Why we built it

Most gyms run on a stack of disconnected apps: one for billing, one for booking, others for waivers, the whiteboard, coaching, the door and the kids’ room. Each one is another login for staff and another bill for the owner, and none of them agree on who a member is.

Stoa replaces the stack with one platform built around how a gym really runs, and gives every member an AI coach of their own.
